GoalsFit was founded in 2009, by Kasey Manwaring. What started out as a personal training studio on a small side street in Roxborough is now becoming known as the premier outdoor fitness company in Philadelphia. An avid runner, Kasey knew the importance and benefits of having a daily ritual that included working out outdoors, which inspired her to start up the outdoor boot camp program in 2010. That quickly took off and members got hooked. 4 years later, GoalsFit has boot camps in 5 different locations, more on the way and over 1000 members.
In 2013 , Kasey decided to take her love for running and share it with the community. She took a group of 6 totally overweight , non-runners and trained them for the Philadelphia Marathon. In less than 6 months, this group went from struggling with one lap around the track, to running 26.2 miles. This clearly proved to the community, that GoalsFit is the place to go if you want to learn how to run, get faster or have a goal of running a half or full marathon. GoalsFit offers various running programs throughout year, ranging from a Broad Street Training Program to the You Should Be Running Marathon Program.
Along with making sure you achieve your fitness goals, GoalsFit takes pride in Making All Fitness Fun! Chances are if you try out a GoalsFit boot camp or running class, you will get hooked for a life time.
Kasey, owner of Goals Fit, is actively involved in all classes and programs. Her motto is No Goals , No Glory!! “I encourage all my clients and boot campers to set fitness goals. It makes you push a little harder, run a little faster and see results quicker.” Her current goal is to break 3 hours in the marathon , as her PR is 3:02 in the Phladelphia Marathon. Kasey has been certified and working in the fitness industry for the past 8 years and is constantly trying to learn new ways to keep her clients happy, healthy and fit. She comes off very sweet, but she is one tough cookie.
Lydia, runner extraordinaire, has been with GoalsFit for the past year. She teaches Roxborough boot camp and will be leading up the Back to School / Valley Green Boot Camp. Her motto is Just Run- It will make you happy! This clearly explains her upbeat and highly energetic teaching style. Lydia played Division 1 lacrosse and is now a competitive runner, having competed in the Boston Marathon 7 times with plans to do so again this April. Her goal is to always challenge herself no matter how little that challenge may be. If you are looking to get fit and fast, her class is a must. But watch out, she takes no excuses. After all, she is mother of two small children and still getting fitter and faster every day.
Ted is a Chiropractor who has been working in fitness for 20 years. “Don’t be scared!” Is his motto. “Working on things you’re bad at is how you become a more complete athlete and person” Ted took his own advice, learning to swim in his mid-30s, overcoming a life long fear. Since ending a long rugby career in 2000, Ted has run almost 20 marathons and finished his first Ironman Triathlon in 2013. His fitness goal is to continue racing as long as he can, and to constantly improve upon his weaknesses. Ted teaches at Lloyd Hall and Roxborough. You may hate Ted during the workout, but you will love him after.
Adrienne, a former college soccer player from St. Joseph’s University, has been teaching boot camp at Goals Fit since May. Adrienne will have you smiling as much as she will have you sweating during her workouts. Her motto is “Sweat, smile , and repeat.” Her creative and fun workouts however, will leave you not so “smiley” the next day. She is known for working those muscles you didn’t even know you had. Adrienne’s goal is to keep her body fit and injury free so she can continue playing soccer well into old age and she hopes to run a marathon in the near future. Adrienne teaches at Roxborough and Lloyd Hall. Be sure to try out her class if you are looking for a hard-CORE workout.
Maggie, marathon maniac, has been with GoalsFit the past year. She will be leading up the boot camp in West Chester and also teaches at Lloyd Hall. Her motto, is “Go all in, no regrets.” And that she certainly does. She most recently set the women’s record in the 100 miller Viaduct Trail Ultra-marathon and has hopes of running a 200 miler next July. Just when you think you have nothing left, Maggie will get you to the next level. As well as working towards her own GOALS, she also loves helping others accomplish theirs. This past November, she trained and ran the entire marathon with Kinzey, a visually impaired teenager with the Achilles International foundation. Marvin, Mr. Personality, has been with GoalsFit for the past 4 years. He teaches both at Roxborough and Lloyd Hall. His motto is, If you are having fun , you are not working hard enough. However Marvin’s super energetic personality and upbeat attitude makes you almost forget how hard you are actually working. His class will have you sweating buckets in no time. Marvin’s goals is to bench 300 and squat 450 again. He never takes the easy way on his workouts, and he certainly won’t let you. Join him one morning , either at Lloyd Hall or Roxborough, for the workout of a lifetime.
Andy is an avid runner, boxer, cyclist, basketball player and weight lifter. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, he has a strong background in biomechanics and exercise physiology and always insures the science behind his workouts is solid. Andy always wants to be bigger, faster, and stronger and as such is always motivated to push himself to the limit with every workout. He wants to break 4:30 in a mile, 16:00 in a 5k, and bench press 315. Andy’s motto is His motto is “Strength is NEVER a Weakness.” If you are looking for a killer workout and a lot of drills and frills to make you faster and stronger, be sure to take a class of Andy’s!
Eric, currently a Doctor of Physical Therapy student at Drexel University , brings a ton of knowledge an different exercises to GoalsFit. Having played lacrosse at the University of Pittsburgh and currently an avid half marathoner he knows what it takes to work hard and perform at a high level. His fitness motto is “better yourself everyday – never stop improving.” So be prepared to work hard at fast at his class and have fun while doing it.
Becca is feisty and fierce and she will get you performing at levels you didn’t think were possible. Having graduated from Temple with a major in Kinesiology and being an avid runner she is the perfect fit for GoalsFIt. She currently does a lot of work with the Achilles International foundation and is great at getting all levels to reach their highest potential . Her motto is “You can do anything for a minute, keep going!” Looking to get faster, meaner and leaner , Becca is the girl for you! Becca teaches boot camp and will be leading up RunFit this year at Lloyd Hall.
Lauren graduated in 2012 from University of Iowa with a degree in health promotion. She joined the GoalsFit Boot Camp crew in 2014 and I could tell by her enthusiasm and work ethic she would make a perfect GoalsFit instructor. She recently got certified and we are psyched to have her on board. Her motto is “push yourself, you ‘ll never see progress if you play it safe.” So when taking her class be prepared to go way beyond your limits.
